Eating clean is far from convenient. It usually takes meal-prepping Sunday’s to meticulously plan how you will eat healthily for the following week.
But in a world where you are building a name for yourself and working way past 9-5 in the city, it can be hard to get the motivation to eat clean.
Especially when it entails prepping like a boss in your downtime when all you want to do is chill in the garden with a mojito at hand. Right?
Scroll down for our top pick of tried and tested places to grab a healthy meal in the city.
1 Neal’s Yard, London WC2H 9DP
Neal’s Yard is a healthy eaters paradise! In every corner you will spot something to eat whether you’re vegan or gluten-free. 26 grains is particularly great for breakfast with a selection of healthy porridges and cold bowls, as well as warmer savoury dishes. The cafe which has a Scandi vibe is a great alternative to your morning Starbucks to accompany your morning commute into the West End.Why not try the Nordic Pear Porridge with a chai tea? Coconut milk for me!

The chain offers every clean eaters answer to fast food. Their made-to-order salads are easy and fuss free. Think the Subway of salads. Just pick your ingredients and you’re off, perfect for the health conscious on-the-go. Too cold for a salad? They also have a large selection of wholesome soups to choose from- as well as a few other hot dishes.
3 Percy St, Fitzrovia, London W1T 1DF
As the name suggest, they serve up poké bowls. We will forgive you if you’ve never heard of a poké bowl before – neither had we until this cafe popped up -the Hawaiian dish is a raw fish salad layered with fresh vegetables and grains. What is so great about Ahi Poké is that although they have their own signature bowls you can also build your own. The tasteful food paired with ocean-style interiors will make you feel like you’re relaxing in Hawaii- and if not, at least you’ll be able to get some stunning shots for Instagram.

Their tag line is ‘naturally fast food’ and there’s really no better way to explain the chain. Leon offers meals from breakfast to dinner – and even bits in between – whether you want to sit down or you’re on the go. Whatever your dietary requirements, they’ve got a treat for you whether you wish to consume less than 500 calories to being plant-based. You can always count on their salads and hot boxes to be tasty and filling, yet ready in minutes.
228 York Rd, London SW11 3SJ
If you’re looking for a musical experience while you eat, then TWID (That’s What I Do) is the place to be. The opera-themed restaurant offers live nightly opera performances however, the dishes are far from classical. The menu is clearly separated into meat, fish and a vegan/veggie section so you don’t have to awkwardly ask for a separate veggie menu. We love the hand-picked crab which is refreshing and light with a pesto-style sauce. What’s great about these ‘small sharing dishes’ is that they’re not at all small, so one dish would do for lunch. However, if you’re going in the evening why not try mixing a few dishes with friends to truly taste the menu.
29 Commercial St, London E1 6NE
Perfect for after work if you’re based in East London. This gem in Aldgate is our priciest yet favourite option for those looking to indulge whilst eating clean. The pan-Asian menu offers a great mixture of unique and flavourful meat, raw fish and plant-based dishes, perfect for anyone with dietary requirements. Whether you like poké, bao buns or an Asian take on a classic dish, they’ve got you covered. The menu offers tapas’ style portions so we recommend you get around 3 dishes (or 6 like me) per person. We love the sweet and sticky eggplant and would definitely recommend you save some room for dessert!
